Newborn Photography Awards

Newborn Baby Photography Award Winner - The Portrait Masters Award and Accreditation | NP Photography

I am humbled and thrilled to announce that the three newborn images I had submitted to the The Portrait Masters Award and Accreditation Competition have all been awarded a Bronze Award.

Submitting images into competition is one of many ways for me improve my photography skills and enhance my craft. Even with having a certification in photography, I feel that one of the best ways for me to excel in my craft is by putting my work forward to be critiqued and judged by internationally renowned photographers. When you submit your work to be critiqued by world class photographers, it helps you to see which areas you need to work on to further extend your photography skills. In addition, seeing your fellow participants' work is always inspiring.

The three main area you are judged on are:

  1. Your craft - this has to be there before you can proceed any further.

  2. Storytelling - to create a narrative, you need emotion and connection.

  3. Originality - being creative and innovative.

By submitting images to be judged and receiving these awards, I can then accumulate my award points to achieve an even higher status. With my accumulated points I can receive an Associate, Masters or Fellow Accreditation. To achieve these accreditation, I need to put myself out there and be judged for consistency, posing, emotional connection and editing skills.

You will probably be asking yourself - how does this affect me? Primarily, the work I produce is for my clients. The images I create are for my clients and the work I submit to be judged is client work. The bronze award that I received shows that my work is at professional standard.

What are my goals? I am working towards receiving an accreditation award in the newborn and maternity genre from The Portrait Masters Award and Accreditation program. I also want to bring my work level up so that I can achieve a silver or a gold award. From the 4,000 participants only a few are granted a silver or a gold award. My goal is to work towards achieving a higher award.

I am a professional maternity and newborn photographer and my studio is based in Vaughan, Ontario. I service the Toronto area, Brampton, Maple and Richmond Hill area. Please reach out to me to discuss how we can work together to capture those precious images.
